Adventureland
Online version of Adventureland for BBC Micro. A text adventure Scott Adams wrote in BASIC for the TRS-80 in 1978, the game that started Adventure International. The player roams a forest, swamps and caverns in search of 13 treasures to be carried to a store room, pestered on the way by bees, a bear and a dragon. Commands are typed for a parser of 2 words, verb and object. Built as an interpreter plus a separate game database, it spread within a few years to almost every home computer, from the Apple II and Atari to a VIC-20 cartridge and the TI-99/4A with its own module...

Acorn BBC Micro
Online emulated version of Adventureland was originally developed for the BBC Micro,
the BBC Microcomputer built by Acorn Computers for the BBC Computer Literacy Project and released in December 1981. Most British schools had one,
and its games and educational software shaped a generation of programmers, among them the authors of Elite.
The Model B uses a MOS 6502A processor at 2 MHz with 32 KB of RAM, the later B+ and Master 128 have 64 and 128 KB.
It has eight screen modes up to 640 by 256 pixels, a teletext mode 7 that fits a whole screen into one kilobyte,
a Texas Instruments SN76489 sound chip with three voices and noise, and a fast BBC BASIC with a built in assembler.
Games came on cassettes and 5.25" floppy discs for the Acorn DFS.
