Eye of the Beholder

Online version of Eye of the Beholder for SNES. Eye of the Beholder is a grid-based dungeon crawler developed in 1991 by Westwood Associates for Strategic Simulations (SSI) as the first game of its AD&D Legend Series. Built on 2nd Edition AD&D rules and set in the Forgotten Realms, it sends a party of 4 beneath the city of Waterdeep, down 12 levels of sewers, dwarven ruins and drow territory to Xanathar, the beholder who gives the game its name. Instead of the turn-based combat of SSI's earlier AD&D games it takes the Dungeon Master approach: first-person view, square-by-square movement and real-time fighting. It launched the Eye of the Beholder trilogy and steered SSI towards more AD&D dungeon crawlers.

Online emulated version of Eye of the Beholder was originally developed for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), an 16-bit home video game cartridge-based console produced by Nintendo, first released in Japan as the Super Famicom (SFC) in 1990. The SNES is Nintendo`s second programmable home console, following the NES. The console introduced advanced graphics and sound capabilities compared with other systems at the time.
