Prince of Persia

Online version of Prince of Persia for Game Boy Color. Prince of Persia is an action platformer with sword combat, designed and programmed by Jordan Mechner in 1989 for the Apple II and published by Brøderbund of California. The player takes the role of an unnamed young hero who has 60 minutes of real time to fight through the palace of the evil vizier Jaffar and rescue the Princess. Thanks to its rotoscoped animation — Mechner filmed his own brother David and traced sword sequences from The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) — and the precise mix of jumps, traps and real-time fencing, it became a founding work of the cinematic platformer subgenre and inspired later titles such as Another World or Flashback...

Nintendo Game Boy Color Console

Online emulated version of Prince of Persia was originally developed for Game Boy Color (GBC), an 8-bit handheld game console, manufactured by Nintendo, which was released in Japan on October 21, 1998 and to international markets that November. It is the successor to the original Game Boy and is part of the Game Boy family.
The GBC features a color screen (160x144 px) rather than monochrome, but it is not backlit. It is slightly thicker and taller and features a slightly smaller screen than the Game Boy Pocket, its immediate predecessor in the Game Boy line. As with the original Game Boy, it has a custom 8-bit processor made by Sharp that is considered a hybrid between the Intel 8080 and the Zilog Z80.

Due to its backward compatibility with Game Boy games, the Game Boy Color's launch period had a large playable library. Tetris for the original Game Boy is the best-selling game compatible with Game Boy Color, and Pokémon Gold and Silver are the best-selling games developed primarily for it. The best-selling Game Boy Color exclusive game is Pokémon Crystal.
